Seven years ago, Nigerian superstar Davido teamed up with Jamaican dancehall star Popcaan for “Risky,” a memorable collaboration that dropped on October 23, 2019. The song blended Afrobeats with dancehall influences, bringing together Davido’s energetic delivery and Popcaan’s unmistakable Jamaican patois.
Produced by Speroach Beatz, “Risky” grew from Davido’s viral freestyle on Hot 97 into an official single and became one of the standout releases leading up to his A Good Time album. Its official music video, directed by Meji Alabi, also helped the song gain attention among fans.
Even years later, “Risky” remains a notable moment in the crossover between Nigerian Afrobeats and Jamaican dancehall.
